Renewable energies already form a vital part of the energy mix. They will continue to grow in importance worldwide as fossil fuels become increasingly scarce. Photovoltaics - electricity generation with solar cells - is one of the most promising renewable energy technologies. Solarvalue AG would like to make a contribution to the global energy transition and is planning, the production of cost-effective solar grade silicon from metallurgical grade silicon. The shortage of high-quality solar grade silicon at a moderate price is holding back the further expansion of photovoltaics.
 
In the last few years, the worldwide photovoltaics market has seen average annual growth of double digit rates. Following the introduction of the German Renewable Energies Act (EEG), the German PV market boomed. Renewable energies are being promoted worldwide. Experts are therefore predicting high growth rates in the PV market for many years to come.
